Description

Biochar acts as a powerful "nutrient sponge," significantly improving the soil's ability to store essential elements. Its large surface area provides the perfect habitat for beneficial microorganisms to thrive. This high-quality biochar is produced from processed compost wood, grain husks, cellulose fibres, and fruit pomace in an award-winning facility, where it is heated to 850°C in an airtight environment before being quenched with water.

Bulk Density: 0.45 t/m³

Important Application Advice:

  • Never apply raw biochar directly to the soil. To become active and effective, the charcoal must first be "charged" or saturated with nutrients and microorganisms. Therefore, it should always be used in combination with an organic fertiliser.
  • When applied correctly, biochar rapidly increases the humus content and overall fertility of your soil. This results in a superior soil structure with enhanced water absorption and retention. Plants become more resilient against diseases and pests, ensuring healthy growth and stable yields even during seasons with unfavourable weather.

Versatile Usage Options:

  • Compost Additive:
    • Adding 10–20% biochar by volume to your compost heap can reduce nutrient leaching by up to 50%.
    • It acts as an immediate deodoriser, significantly reducing or completely neutralising unpleasant odours during the composting process.
    • Finished biochar-compost has a pleasant, intense scent of fresh forest soil.
    • In the first year, it boosts the growth of "light feeders" such as carrots, onions, herbs, beans, or peas.
    • The soil quality improves year after year, creating a long-lasting "Terra Preta effect." By the second year, "heavy feeders" will also show significantly higher yields.
  • Bokashi Fermentation:
    • Trials suggest that adding biochar can reduce nitrogen loss during fermentation to near zero.
    • Lactic acid bacteria colonise the porous charcoal, allowing them to remain active in the soil for much longer after application.
    • A mixture of 10% biochar by volume is recommended for Bokashi sets.
  • Livestock Manure Treatment:
    • Biochar is ideal for stable management, as it binds odours and nutrients while improving the overall climate of the barn.
    • It accelerates the decomposition of manure and promotes humus buildup once spread on the field.
    • For best results, combine it with rock meal to provide essential trace elements and minerals for maximum soil fertility.
