Effective Microorganisms In Your Garden
Little helpers with a big effect
Effective microorganisms (EM) are on everyone's lips and are mainly used in organic gardening. Have you often stumbled across the term and asked yourself what effective microorganisms actually are and how they could be useful in the garden? We have compiled these facts for you so you can start the coming gardening year well informed and well prepared.
Who or what are Effective Microorganisms?
Effective microorganisms are available in both liquid and dry form. The finished mixtures are packed with valuable nutrients, lactic acid bacteria, photosynthetic bacteria and yeasts. These little helpers support existing soil organisms in their work, counteract rotting processes and ensure fertile soil. Depending on requirements, other herbal ingredients such as nettle and horsetail extracts are also added. The best conditions for healthy plant growth and strong roots.
What are the positive effects of EM?
Effective microorganisms perform a variety of tasks in the garden. It doesn't matter whether vegetable plants, flower beds, lawns or indoor plants are treated - EM always form the ideal basis for vigorous growth and aim for a harmonious cycle in which all those involved complement each other. Depleted soils are populated with countless microorganisms and regain their original vitality. In the long term, this also has positive effects on plant life and, more broadly, on beneficial insects such as bees and butterflies.
- Soil quality is sustainably improved
- Plant growth is promoted
- Roots are strengthened
- Germination of young plants is stimulated
- Harvest and flowering are richer
- Save on additional fertilisation
- Composting processes are accelerated
- Algae formation in ponds is prevented
How are EM applied?
Many solutions, such as EM Active or Terrafert Boden, are diluted before use and then applied using a watering can or a special irrigation system. Application to the leaf surface using a spray bottle has also proven effective.
For best results, plants should be fed EM at least four to six times a year, between spring and autumn. A cloudy day is ideal - EM don't like direct sunlight. With regular use, experience positive development up close and look forward to the fabulous results.
