Our Tips:

• Sowing Rates:
  • For bunching (with tops): approx. 100 seeds per linear metre.
  • For maincrop/washed carrots: 80–100 seeds per linear metre.
  • For processing/large roots: 60–70 seeds per linear metre.
• Soil Management: Carrots require loose, friable soil that is not prone to "capping" (forming a hard surface crust). For heavy garden soils, we highly recommend growing them on raised ridges to ensure the roots can grow to their full length.
• Row Markers: Due to the relatively long germination period, consider mixing your seeds with a few radish seeds. The radishes will germinate quickly, marking the rows and allowing for early weeding.
• Thinning: If seedlings emerge too densely, thin them out to give each carrot enough room to develop its characteristic slender shape.
