Description

This early Nantaise-type carrot produces smooth, medium-length, vibrant orange roots with an exceptionally sweet, juicy, and fresh flavour. Complemented by delicate, fine foliage, it is ideal for early-season cultivation as both "bunched" carrots (with tops) or "washed" maincrop roots. It is also suitable for late-season sowing to provide an early winter harvest.

Our Tips:

  • Sowing Rates:
    • Early varieties: approx. 100 seeds per linear metre.
    • For maincrop/washed carrots: 80–100 seeds per linear metre.
    • For processing/large roots: 60–70 seeds per linear metre.
  • Soil Conditions: Carrots require loose, friable soil that is not prone to "capping" (forming a crust). For heavier garden soils, we highly recommend growing them on raised ridges to ensure straight, well-formed roots.
  • Marker Seeds: Due to the relatively long germination time of carrots, we suggest mixing your seeds with a few radish seeds. The quick-growing radishes will mark the rows early, making weeding much easier.
  • Thinning: If the seedlings emerge too densely, thin them out to ensure each carrot has enough space to grow plump and sweet.
