Description
The Cape Gooseberry grows a pretty lantern-shaped, papery calyx covering around the sweet and sour berries. When the calyx covering the berries dries up and turns brown, the berries are ripe and can be eaten.
Note:
- The leaves and stems of the plant are not edible as they contain toxic alkaloids.
