Description
Cardamom belongs to the ginger family and is one of the most expensive spices in the world after saffron and vanilla. The reed-like plant can grow up to 3 metres high. When planted in a planter or a pot it can grow up to one metre. The fruits are used as spices and each have 1-2 cardamom pods.
Cardamom has a sweet and spicy flavour and is often used in curries or masalas. In Central Europe, it is often used in gingerbread. In Arab countries, cardamom is often used in coffee, while in India it is used in chai tea. The spice also tastes great with duck and meat dishes.
