Description
Hardly any other vegetable can compete with the carrot for versatility. They are delicious raw in salads or in sandwiches, or cooked in rice, stews and soups, or as freshly squeezed juice. It is also freezes well.

To prevent infestation with carrot flies, it is advisable to cover the beds with special crop protection nets from the beginning of May, or to sow carrots in mixed cultivation with onions or summer savoury.
They thrive in loose, slightly humic soil that has not been freshly fertilised.
