ReinSaat Tiger Nuts

The round tubers formed underground by this plant measure around 1 to 2 cm and can be cooked, roasted or ground. With their sweet, nutty flavour, they are a very special treat. This variety was selected at LVZ Wies.

Our expert tip for the perfect harvest:

For best results, tiger nuts should be grown in large planters, balcony/patio troughs or raised beds.

This offers two brilliant advantages:

• A boost of warmth: Tiger nuts love warm soil. The soil in containers and raised beds warms up much faster in spring than the soil in garden beds. This promotes strong growth and a more abundant harvest.
• Easy to harvest: No need to go digging to find and harvest the small tubers. Simply spread out a tarp on the ground, empty the planter onto it, and collect the little tubers.

Disposal tip:
After harvesting, do not add the plant remains, roots or used soil to your compost heap or organic waste bin, as the small tubers are extremely resilient. Instead, dispose of them safely with your residual household waste. This helps actively protect nature in your surroundings.
