Description

This vibrant seed mix features four distinct carrot varieties, bringing a splash of colour to your kitchen and delicious variety to your plate. Discover a whole new way to enjoy this garden staple with a spectrum of unique flavours and textures.

Contents:

  • Yellow Gochsheimer: A traditional yellow variety with a mild, sweet profile.
  • White Küttiger: A hardy Swiss heirloom, known for its aromatic white roots.
  • Oxhella: A robust, orange variety with a classic deep flavour.
  • Purple Special (KS-MOG-TH-PURP): Striking purple roots for a colourful crunch.

Our Tips:

  • Soil Conditions: Carrots require loose, friable soil that is not prone to "capping" (forming a hard surface crust). In heavy soils, it is best to grow them on raised ridges.
  • Feeding: Avoid using fresh manure or fertiliser immediately before sowing, as this can cause the roots to fork.
  • Crop Rotation: To maintain soil health, only grow carrots in the same spot once every six years.
  • Sowing Rates:
    • For bunching: approx. 100 seeds per linear metre.
    • For maincrop: 80–100 seeds per linear metre.
    • For large processing roots: 60–70 seeds per linear metre.
  • Smart Sowing: Mix your carrot seeds with a few radish seeds. The radishes emerge quickly to mark the rows, and harvesting them later acts as a natural first "thinning" for the carrots.
  • Thinning: If the seedlings are too crowded, thin them out manually to ensure the roots have enough space to grow straight and large.
